The Battle of Khe Sanh January 21st - April 8th, 1968 "Khe Sanh could serve as a patrol base for blocking enemy infiltration from Laos along Route 9; as a base for SOG operations to harass the enemy in Laos; as an airstrip for reconnaissance planes surveying the Ho Chi Minh trail; as the western anchor for defenses south of the DMZ; and as an eventual jump-off point for ground operations to cut the Ho Chi Minh Trail" - Gen. Westmoreland (1966). Located along the only road through the region, Khe Sanh sat along route 9 near the Laotian border. Originally a French military base, Khe Sanh was built up from 1962 through 1968 where it fell under attack at the onset of the TET offensive. At 0030 hours on January 21st 1968, all three major points of the base, Hills 881, South 861, and the main base were simultaneously attacked. The Marines stationed at Khe Sanh, having killed a 6 man advance VC listening post 2 weeks prior, were ready for the attack. The marines held back a 300 enemy combatant all out assault, pushing the NVA/VC back into the jungle. NVA/VC troops adjusted their attack and leveled all above ground structures with 122mm rockets and mortars. During that first night, C-4 charges were ignited in storage and destroyed the majority of ammunition stored at the base. US supply drops would keep the base supplied while bombing runs would keep the enemy pushed back to the treelines. Your mission is one of the same, survive the assault on Khe Sanh while keeping up with collecting much needed supply drops.
POW/MIA 1965 - 1993 During the years of the Vietnam war, about 1350 US troops were listed as Prisoner of War/Missing in Action. Another 1200 were reported killed in action and body not recovered. Many of these listed, were airmen shot down over North Vietnam and Laos. The treatment of POWs varied from camp to camp, there were no set prisoner treatment guidelines. In the northern camps, prisoners were generally cared for better then in the southern camps. However the tradeoff came with the security of the camps themselves. Southern based camps were generally very easy to escape from, Northern camps were harder. US Military personal were aware of the dangers of being captured by the NVA/VC and lived by a "Code". The code basically stated that while captured, a POW would only give personal information, name and rank, while tried to "disrupt" and "confuse" his captors to the best of his ability. At the onset of the war - before 1968 - prisoners were treated very badly, with holding of rations and medical attention was common, torture was event more rampet. In 1968 this treatment was exposed to the American public and the US military was outraged. Not wanting to be seen as inhumane torturers of POWs, the North quickly, but marginally, improved their camps and offered "Tours" to red cross workers. Torture and mistreatment still went on until 1973. In 1973, following the Paris peace accords, Operation "Homecoming" returned 571 captive Americans to US authorities. The topic of POW/MIA was brought again into mainstream light with the 1985 release of "Rambo: First Blood part 2" which had a plot centered around American POWs still held in Vietnam. Between 1991 - 1993, Senators John Kerry, Bob Smith, and John McCain found "No compelling evidence that proves that an American remains alive in captivity in Southeast Asia".
Siege of Plei Me October 19th, 1965 - 1930, General Man orders the 33rd PAVN regiment to seize the camp at Plei Me. The 33rd launched the attack by bombarding the camp imdeatly followed by infantry attacks, intailly overrunning a 20 man outpost. The remaining troops inside the base repelled the PAVN forces from the perimeter of the camp. The intial raid then turned into a siege. The next morning 250 ARVN Rangers led by Major Charles Beckwith arrived by helicopter at the camp. The camp was continued to be resupplied with ammunition, medical supplies, and troops by airdrops throughout the siege. On October 25th, 1965 an armoured collum of ARVN troops and vechiles broke through NVA/VC lines to end the siege at Plei Me.
Air America 1951(orgin) 1959 - 1962(French Support) 1962 - 1976(CIA) Originating in 1951, Claire Lee Chennault of Flying Tigers fame was approached by the CIA. His charter airline was bought out through the holding company, American Airdale corperation. Their slogan was "Anything, Anytime, Anywhere, Professionally". During the years of American involvement in Southeast Asia, Air America was a privately funded charter airline that ran soley for the purposes of the CIA. Air America flights flew to Vietnam, Laos, and Cambodia, transporting everything from supplies, doctors, livestock, weapons, Special Ops teams, Spies, and even drugs. From 1962 to 1970, Air Americas main role was to insert and extract U.S. personal to provide support to the Royal Lao Army, Hmong army, under the command of RLA Major General Vang Pao. Using a fleet of civilian marked planes and helicopters, Air America also provide photo reconnaissance missions and frequently flew search and rescue missions for downed US airmen. Air America helicopters also assisted in the 1975 Operation Frequent Wind and the mass evacuation of the US Embassy located in Saigon when it was overran by NVA forces.
Firebase Ripcord July 1st, 1970 On March 12Th 1970, the 3rd brigade of the 101st airborne began rebuilding the abandoned fire support base Ripcord. Ripcord was a remote base which relied on a helicopter lifeline to get supplies in and personal out. The newly rebuilt firebase was to serve for a planned offensive by the 101st to eliminate NVA supply bases in the mountains overlooking the A Shau valley. This entire operation was classified as "covert" by the American Army. While the 101st was in planning, the NVA began secretly monitoring the base and observing the 101St's activities. The NVA launched textbook guerrilla attacks, probing the American lines for weakness. After weeks of reconnaissance by the NVA, on the morning of July 1st 1970, the NVA launched a surprise mortar attack against the firebase. The resulting battle turned into a 23 day siege of the base. Over the 23 day long battle, 75 US servicemen were killed in action. Fighting from four different hilltops and outnumbered 10 to 1, the 101st held fast, taking in looses at 250 men - from March 12Th to July 23rd - while inflicting heavy losses to the 8 NVA battalions that attacked the base. This battle marked the last major conflict between US ground forces and the NVA.
Ho Chi Minh Trail 1959 - 1975 The Ho Chi Minh Trail was a supply line that ran from North Vietnam to South Vietnam and through the neighboring kingdoms of Laos and Cambodia. The system provided support in the form of manpower and materials to the National Front for the Liberation of South Vietnam a.k.a., the Vietcong and the PAVN/NVA. Parts of the trail had been in existence for centuries as simple footpaths that facilitated trade in the region. In 1959, Hanoi established the 559Th transportation group under the command of Colonel Vo Bam to improve and maintain a transportation system to supply the Vietcong uprising against the south Vietnamese government. The Ho Chi Minh trail was actually a series of 5.5m wide (18 feet) dirt/gravel paths that crisscrossed through the countryside. NVA and VC operators would rig up bikes to haul supplies down these trails, sometimes carrying up to 300 lbs on a single modified bicycle. The US government tried everything from heavy bombing runs to dropping dried soap onto sections of the trail in order to "wash" the trail away. Unfortunately for the US, with the trail having multiple sections and paths, as soon as the US would destroy one pathway, the NVA and VC would simply shift over to a neighboring section that had been untouched.
The TOD Here at Midwest Airsoft Guerrillas we believe forward progression is key in the sport of airsoft for all of our participants. With that in mind at every event we will be introducing a simple yet very effective, Tactic Of the Day. The TOD will be a demonstrated by the staff at MAG during the safety briefing but it is up to the player to implement it on the field. The TOD will always have some application towards the game for that day, we will make it something you can practice throughout the day and hopefully it will make the game more enjoyable for you as the player. You learned stuff too!
Tactics of the day: Best of the Worst 3
Medics: Today we want everyone to try and use the "Wounded player carry/drag" rules and our medic system instead of walking out to a respawn point. Stay together as a unit, pull your wounded to safety until a medic can assist them. The best way to make it out of the area is too stay as one unit, not using medic rules or the medic system will get you separated from your team and might cost them in lives.
RTO: An RTO would be a designated radio man on your squad who keeps in communcation with main HQ. This is done to limit the amount of radio chatter broadcasted and keeps your channels free of un-needed communication. Squads keep in contact via sight and handsignals while a signel RTO keeps in radio communcation with your main HQ, updating their mission status or taking direction to a current objective

Basic Field Rules 1. FULL SEAL GOGGLES ONLY: While this generally constitutes goggles, shooting glasses-style protection may also be worn as long as it creates a full seal around the eyes. An elastic band or other type of strap for keeping the face protection securely sealed is required at all times. Mesh Goggles, regular shooting glasses, eye/seeing glasses, USGI sun/wind/dust goggles do not meet our requirements. No exceptions. Eye protection must conform to ANSI Z87.1 compliance or better.
2. ANY PLAYER UNDER THE AGE OF 18 MUST HAVE FULL FACE PROTECTION: This includes paintball/airsoft masks only. This rule does not include those players over the age of 18 but it is recommended that ALL players follow a full face protection guideline.
3. THE SAFEZONE: The Safe Zone is exactly that, a safe zone that is not in play on the field. While in the safe zone the players may remove their goggles, rest, perform any needed repairs or address any other issues at hand, etc. At no time is firing your airsoft weapon in, at, or out of the safe zone acceptable. This includes test firing or dry firing your weapon. If you must do so, you may go to the designated firing line at the field to perform these functions. Any player caught firing into the safe zone from the field of play will be ejected from the field without refund.
4. ACTING IN AN UNSAFE MANNER: This includes physical contact, threatening others, using non-approved explosives, combustables, etc. We do not tolerate an unsafe environment, and we are all adults.† If you are unsure what this rule covers, just remember that anything that may compromise player safety while on our field is unacceptable.
5. ALL "CLASSIC" GAS AIRSOFT GUNS MUST HAVE A TOURNAMENT LOCK: Due to the ability that classic type airsoft guns can adjust their velocity on the fly, all "classic" airsoft guns (brands like JAC, Asahi, Kokusai, etc) must have a NPPL certified paintball Tournament Lock affixed to their external pressure regulator. A quick google search on Paintball tournament locks will further clarify this issue. Also, all "classic" gas airsoft guns are subject to random chronograph checks throughout the day.
QUESTIONS OR PROBLEMS ABOUT THE FIELD OR RULES MAY BE DIRECTED TO BREECH ONLY
During the course of some events, certain pyrotechnics may be used or allowed at the field.† †This covers mostly smoke type pyrotechnics.† Please check with the individual event requirements or game day rules for further details on what type of smoke pyrotechnics will be used/allowed.
General Field Information No drugs or alcohol allowed on the field. Smoking is only permitted in the safe zone. There will be food and bb's for sale, food is available through ROR, ammo will be available through me.
