True History:
Pablo Escobar was arguably the Osama bin Laden of the 1980s. At the height of his power, the Medellin drug cartel which he led was arguably more powerful than the Colombian government. It had global reach, and could attempt to kill anyone that the cartel decided to remove from the picture. Yet this cartel was destroyed, and Pablo Escobar was killed in a shootout with Colombian police. It was a cat-and-mouse game that lasted for just over four years. Those who volunteered to hunt Escobar (both Colombian and American) were placing their lives at risk. Escobar killed those who would not be bribed. It got to the point where he was willing to blow up airliners just to get people he didn't trust.
At that point, the George H. W. Bush Administration declared war. The military, specifically elements of Special Operations Command, was on the way to Colombia. This included Centra Spike, a signals-intelligence unit that began to develop the network of the Medellin cartel. As Centra Spike identified targets, the information was passed on to the Colombians. Eventually, the heat reached the point where Pablo Escobar turned himself in. The period of his incarceration shows how much of a mistake it is to make deals with people like Escobar, he used homing pigeons to stay in contact with his cartel (until his escape from prison), and he was able to regroup.
By the autumn of 1993, Pablo Escobar was in bad shape. His lifelong, fabulously wealthy organization had been dismantled and terrorized by the vigilantes of Los Pepes. On December 2, 1993, Colonel Martinez's Search Bloc cornered Escobar on a rooftop, opened fire, and killed the drug kingpin. Pablo's death ended a fifteen-month effort that cost hundreds of millions of dollars. It was the deathblow to the MedellÌn cartel.
It's 1986, welcome to Columbia! In the 80's, over 70% of the worlds cocaine supply came from Columbia. Over 2/3rds of the cocaine refined during that time in Columbia was handled by the Medellin cartel and their leader, Pablo Escobar. Pablo Escobar was one of the most powerful, wanted, and feared men while he was head of the Medellin cartel. When he was arrested and jailed in Columbia for drug exporting, he paid off the Columbian government and they let him build his own private jail dubbed "The Ranch" in the hills of Columbia were he was to serve his prison sentence. He was one of the FBI's ten most wanted for the last 10 years of his life.
Today we are taking you back to the height of Escobar's carrier. You will have the option to play as either a Medellin cartel member, a member of a smaller rival gang, a Columbian police officer, or a "Los Pepes" guerrilla, a group of brutal vigilantes. You will get your chance to stand by and fight next to Pablo Escobar, or try to take him down, you will have the ability to buy and sell drugs, or arrest those who are doing so.
The TOD Here at Midwest Airsoft Guerrillas we believe forward progression is key in the sport of airsoft for all of our participants. With that in mind at every event we will be introducing a simple yet very effective, Tactic Of the Day. The TOD will be a demonstrated by the staff at MAG during the safety briefing but it is up to the player to implement it on the field. The TOD will always have some application towards the game for that day, we will make it something you can practice throughout the day and hopefully it will make the game more enjoyable for you as the player. You learned stuff too!
Tactic of the day: Hunting Pablo: 3
Battle Buddies: Today we want to stress the importance of the battle buddy system. In today's game you and your battle buddy can take advantage of the wounded player carry rule, you can also practice cover and bounding techniques, and simple hand signals, all of which will be covered in our TOD briefing during our pre game announcements. Whenever you play it's always a good idea to have somebody with you, it make the game more enjoyable and being sometimes we can get separated away from the action on larger fields, it's a good to have someone close by in case of an emergency. At least this way if you do get lost you will have someone to talk to while the rest of us come and find you.

Teams: Gangs/Cartels: There will be three gangs/cartels for this event. Each of the gangs/cartels will start off with a set amount of drugs and cash, the idea for each of the gangs/cartels is to obtain as much cash and drugs as possible and to kill the leaders of the rival factions. The gangs/cartels will be able to produce, buy, and sell drugs in order to fund their organization. The gangs/cartels will be able to use their cash and drugs to: bribe police officers, bail fellow gang members out of jail, or purchase the ability to carry more ammo. Gangs/cartels will have the ability to interact with each other and buy/sell drugs to each other. Gangs/cartels may also form alliances with each other.
MedellÌn Cartel Cartel Boss: Pablo Escobar This is one of the most feared cartels in all of Columbia, Pablo Escobar single handy changed world drug trade and was the number one supplier to the US throughout the late '70's, 80's and into the 90's. This highly organized cartel made a name for themselves in blood, they targeted Columbian police officers killing them off in droves, it was reported at one time on average the Medellin police force was loosing up to three officers per day. The Medellin cartel is a producer, they have more drugs then they know what to do with, the are very eager to sell to anyone as cash is worth more then drugs to them.
Norte del Valle Cartel: Cartel Leader: Diego Montoya Diego Montoya is the new kid on the block so to speak, he is killing his way to the top and his main target is removing Pablo Escobar and the Medellin cartel from their position of power. Montoya was just recently added to the FBI's ten most wanted list, he shares this with escobar who was added in '83. Diego is mainly in the exporting business and is more interested in getting his hands on drugs as he is not producing at this time. Drugs are worth more to Norte Del Cartel then cash.
Juarez Gang: Gang Leader: Juan Juarez Juan Juarez mainly deals in killing for hire as many of his gang members are ex-soliders and mercenaries. Diego himself held the rank of Captain in the Colombian army before turning to murder for hire. More recently they have been making a name for themselves by undercutting Escobar's wholesale prices and stepping on his toes so to speak. Escobar took notice to this, he kidnapped Juarez's brother and burned him alive while his wife and children watched. Needless to say, Juan really doesn't like Escobar too much. Juarez is neither a producer or a transporter, he makes the majority of his cash in using his mercs to rip off the other Columbian cartels.† He is interested in both cash and drugs, they are both worth the same to him
Police: The Medellin police force, pissed really doesn't describe their attitude, for the last 3 years Escobar has been killing off cops at a record rate. The Medellin police force has a special dislike for the Medellin cartel, it is believed that some officers may belong to "Los Pepes"
Camo Restrictions Since there will be up to 6 different teams in play here, this is how camo regs break down
Gangs and Cartels camo pants, non camo shirt - any pattern gang and cartel members may not wear camo shirts, only civi type shirts allowed - hawaiian or flower prints shirts highly suggested
Police and Bank Guards Full uniforms, either full camo, blue, or black. you can mix and match blue and black but not camo patterens. Camo patterns must be complete uniforms.
Camo regs are being kept simple in the event we need to switch some people around, so we ask if every could bring a camo top and a civi shirt
Drugs and Cash Throughout the corse of the event, all players will come across bags of "Drugs - flour" and rolls of "Cash - the breech buck". These props can be used for the following: 1. use cash to bond gang members out of jail. 2. use cash to buy drugs off rival gang members. 3. use cash to buy team power ups i.e. additional 500 rounds ammo carrying capacity 4. use cash to open bank account and store money/drugs at bank 5. drugs can be used to bribe police officers 6. you may sell drugs to other gangs
You are going to want to save some cash as well, the winning team will be decided via total amount of drugs and cash at the end of the day.
Basic Field Rules 1. FULL SEAL GOGGLES ONLY: While this generally constitutes goggles, shooting glasses-style protection may also be worn as long as it creates a full seal around the eyes. An elastic band or other type of strap for keeping the face protection securely sealed is required at all times. Mesh Goggles, regular shooting glasses, eye/seeing glasses, USGI sun/wind/dust goggles do not meet our requirements. No exceptions. Eye protection must conform to ANSI Z87.1 compliance or better.
2. ANY PLAYER UNDER THE AGE OF 18 MUST HAVE FULL FACE PROTECTION: This includes paintball/airsoft masks only. This rule does not include those players over the age of 18 but it is recommended that ALL players follow a full face protection guideline.
3. THE SAFEZONE: The Safe Zone is exactly that, a safe zone that is not in play on the field.† While in the safe zone the players may remove their goggles, rest, perform any needed repairs or address any other issues at hand, etc.† At no time is firing your airsoft weapon in, at, or out of the safe zone acceptable. † This includes test firing or dry firing your weapon.† If you must do so, you may go to the designated firing line at the field to perform these functions.† Any player caught firing into the safe zone from the field of play will be ejected from the field without refund.
4. ACTING IN AN UNSAFE MANNER: This includes physical contact, threatening others, using non-approved explosives, combustables, etc.† We do not tolerate an unsafe environment, and we are all adults.† If you are unsure what this rule covers, just remember that anything that may compromise player safety while on our field is unacceptable.
5. ALL "CLASSIC" GAS AIRSOFT GUNS MUST HAVE A TOURNAMENT LOCK: Due to the ability that classic type airsoft guns can adjust their velocity on the fly, all "classic" airsoft guns (brands like JAC, Asahi, Kokusai, etc) must have a NPPL certified paintball Tournament Lock affixed to their external pressure regulator.† A quick google search on Paintball tournament locks will further clarify this issue.† Also, all "classic" gas airsoft guns are subject to random chronograph checks throughout the day.
QUESTIONS OR PROBLEMS ABOUT THE FIELD OR RULES MAY BE DIRECTED TO BREECH ONLY
During the course of some events, certain pyrotechnics may be used or allowed at the field.† †This covers mostly smoke type pyrotechnics.† Please check with the individual event requirements or game day rules for further details on what type of smoke pyrotechnics will be used/allowed.
General Field Information: No drugs or alcohol allowed on the field. Smoking is only permitted in the safe zone. There will be food and bb's for sale, food is available through ROR, ammo will be available through me.
